Gratitude etc

- Dinner last weekend with Chris and Heather. And I took the bus! It was actually 2 busses. For reasons I cannot explain, I seem to believe I deserve some sort of award each time I take public transit. (LOL) In any case, I do feel good every time I do it. I guess because it's the right thing to do both from a green standpoint, and from the standpoint that if people don't use it, it will wither away - and lots of people need it. Also went to see my Dad 2 days ago and took public transit on the way there. (I Ubered on the way home because by the time I left, it was hot).

- Speaking of the Dad visit, that was Saturday and I am glad for a nice Saturday. Although Doris had to work, I volunteered at the Dems' table at the farmers market. Saw Hope, Ron, Vera, and Bob, all of whom are people I like. Bought some veggies that we needed. PFLAG had a bake sale, and they had these vegan orange cake slices which were so good. And then not to bury the lead but I found out Sunday night that....Bob passed away on Saturday! He was such a nice guy, and I am sure glad that I hugged him at the farmers market. He looked fine so his death was apparently very unexpected. As far as I know, it was 'natural causes' (and not like a car crash)

- Scrabble with Ann yesterday!

- My neighborhood is getting a comedy club later this month - yes!

- Also, forgot to mention this one before but want to include it. Perhaps 2 weeks ago, I went to a birthday party for Doris's brother's girlfriend. I hadn't necessarily wanted to go. It was a long ride there and it was one of those days where it was like 95. I could've said I had a headache and stayed home and read and wrote fanfic. But I was very glad I went. I had fun. I liked all the people there. 

- Finally decided to get Apple+. I have a list of shows on it that I wanted to watch. Started with Silo and, three eps in, it's good. I can always cancel Apple+ once I am done with my list. It's not that pricey though. 

Fandom stuff:

- Sachin posted on IG that the ep of Creepshow that he filmed last year will air Friday the 13th! (He is also so excited about Halloween and posting a ton about it)

- One of my favorites from Shadow and Bone was announced to join the cast of Aliens! (Man, creepy and scary stuff here and above). Even better, the announcement specifically said that IF there is a Season 3 of Shadow and Bone, it won't interfere with him being on this

- Been on a Reddit group for review exchanges. They post various topics (multi-chapters, smut, your favorite fic, etc), and if you want to 'play', you put some info on your fics and agree to read and review a certain number of other participants' works. I am loving it. Read some good stuff. And I've gotten tons of comments. Like in a 4 day period, I got like 15 comments. (Some were not from review exchange participants). Really enjoying doing this.

- AND....Doris and I are going to London for the Shadow and Bone convention! I bought our tickets to the event. The hotel room block isn't open yet, and I plan to wait till at least November to buy flight tickets. But - soon. The con starts March 1, we plan to leave a few days before. We're taking off a total of 1 week, figuring if we're gonna go that far, you gotta go for like a week. (Funny note. The con isn't an official con. So the website says it's for "fans of magic and romance". All the guests are the main actors in S&B though) :)

You SHOULD be proud of using public transit! I wish more parts of the US were accessible. We have buses around here, but they come so infrequently it's just not feasible if you have a job with unusual hours.

And yay for Scrabble! I went to game night at my local LGBT center this weekend, and it was great! We broke into two groups, and my group played UNO for like two hours. It was so much fun!

SO MUCH JEALOUS ABOUT THE SHADOW AND BONE CON!! Are you going to meet Ben Barnes? Please tell me if you are going to meet Ben Barnes. Or at least see him in person. I have adored him since Prince Caspian and would probably faint if I ever saw him in the flesh.

Yeah, we need so much more funding and support for public transit everywhere.

So right now Ben Barnes isn't scheduled at the con (one of my two favorites is currently scheduled, and I hope my second favorite will attend too!) But I liked Ben as Prince Caspian too. Funny thing - I distinctly remember watching him in that role on an airplane, though I don't remember where I was traveling to. But I remember liking him.
