Trip and gratitude

Gratitude list:

- Found a solution on what to get Doris for her birthday each year! Her birthday is in December. She can't afford to take her employees out to dinner each Christmas any more. So - my birthday gift to her going forward will be to take everyone out to dinner. We had a blast at it!

- Re-watching Brooklyn 99. That is how you end a show!

- A strange situation involving Sachin and my friend Mia has been resolved. Also a movie he is in is getting a wide release. Not sure when I'll be able to see it, and he doesn't have a big role in it, but still very glad!

- Loving having a hobby like writing fanfic. In which I polished off a gift exchange fic, wrote another chapter of my ongoing longfic, and then got inspired to write an addendum to a Shadow and Bone holiday fic. And enjoyed doing it all! And got some great comments, including one from someone who said they want to go back and read my other stuff

- Finally went to the DMV to get the Real ID. Having a 7:30am appointment on a Monday was awesome! I was the 2nd person in line, and I got in and out fast

- Dinner with the local Dems was nice.

- Work is good, something good happened with the project plan of my new team

And Doris and I did a Friday-Sunday trip to visit my sister!

Was good: no flight delays, we did some fun stuff, finally got to see her house and meet her cats, she lives near Athens GA so we explored the downtown which was cool, went to a holiday light show at the botanic gardens, went to an art show, food was awesome, walked in a forest preserve, also something nice but hard to explain happened involving Tina's work, a car door, and some helpful strangers. 

Not as good: Wtf Atlanta airport, on American Airlines. I have TSA pre check and it took forever. The employees hand-inspected EVERY roller bag. I can't even. One guy was doing it. Just one. And that was after my bag didn't even get put in line in the order it was received. Also, Tina put us up at an AirBnB which was super nice of her. Pros: the place was cute and cozy, kitchen was well-appointed and bathroom had tons of toiletries. Cons: beds were super-uncomfortable and the place was COLD and you could not adjust the temp. Also it was a duplex and we could hear the guy on the other side snoring, omg. (At first I was like "Oh good, Doris is asleep. And then...."Uh....that's not Doris")

Love your plan for Doris's bday present. It's the perfect gift - something you know she wants, something that she won't buy for herself, and something that's going to make her happy!

I also rewatch B99 sometimes. Of course, Kevin & Holt are still my OTP. :)

Hope the Sachin/Mia situation is all good? What's the movie called that he's in?

Yay for getting your Real ID squared away! Rollin wants to get his one of these days and I forgot about the appointments they do now. When I got mine, there was a big line of people there to get their real IDs, and before they even got in the regular line, there was a person there checking their paperwork. Like 4 people in a row who were in front of me got denied because they were missing an important piece of information, and I was thinking, shit, did I forget anything? And when she cleared me to go ahead I was relieved.

Was the dinner with the Dems a holiday party type thing?

Glad the trip as mostly good. Super super weird about the roller bags. Recently I've seen a couple storie on instagram with people bragging about getting to the airport 30 minutes before boarding with a roller bag and strolling right through to get on their flights as soon as they walk into their gate area. Something like this would have derailed them for sure! I just have no interest in potentially needing to run to my gate. No thanks. And sorry the air bnb was not great. But at least it was just for a couple nights. Did they at least have enough blankets to stay warm? The light show and art show sound great, and always good to have tasty food :)

I love that you like Kevin and Holt too! :) And even better, I went to A03 and the top 2 ships are Jake/Amy and Kevin/Holt. (I was glad because you literally never know what you'll see on the fanfic site. Sometimes the popular pairings are ridic).

Sachin's movie is called A Nice Indian Boy. It has a gay theme. Unfortunately his name is literally last on the billing which might mean he's in 1 or 2 scenes. But hey....exposure is exposure.

The Dems do do a dinner every December.

Yeah, getting to an airport early and sitting at a gate for 45 minutes can suck but...it's better than making a mad dash because the security line was long and you didn't give yourself any leeway.

Awww, so glad Kevin/Holt is one of the top two ships! I love that they're happy, no kids, and comfortable totally being themselves exactly as they are. Unrelated, a weird thing - I noticed on Netflix that they had B99, and I was like woo, I can watch it without commercials! And then I saw they only had through season 4 for some reason??

Does Sachin's character have a name? Hopefully he's not just like 'man on phone' or something.

Someone did say that to this day, Brooklyn 99 is unheard-of in that one of the mains is a gay Black man who runs the place and is married to a white guy. I was glad to see that it has won awards. Now what I wonder about is the fact that it's been dubbed into many languages. How would the humor translate?? I don't get that.

Sachin's character does have a name, and I've even seen a pic of him in the movie, dressed in traditional Indian wedding clothing. Even if it's 1 or 2 scenes, I'd sure like to see it!
