What we had for Thanksgiving
Nov. 23rd, 2012 11:02 amEverything was vegetarian except for the turkey:
- turkey
- stuffing (from a recipe from Veg News magazine)
- mashed potatoes: from a 'healthier' recipe that had mashed califlower in the potatoes; you would not have known the califlower was there
- beans, rice, and tortillas with three home-made sauces made by Doris's mom: one thing I love is that Doris's family always has beans, rice, and tortillas so this vegetarian never has to worry about going hungry
- Pico de gallo (avocado dip but way better than anything you can buy)
- brussell sprouts: another delicious recipe that people were actually eating seconds of
- cactus salad: from Doris's mom
- broccoli salad: from Doris's mom, and again people were having seconds. Doris and her mom can cook!
- cranberry sauce
- for desert, pumpkin pie and squash flan with real whipped cream
My parents brought wine.
I want to do it again!
