The good and bad from my trip
Jan. 22nd, 2013 06:39 amBack from a one-night business trip! I learned last week that I’ll be definitely doing quite a bit of business travel this year. There already are three trips I know of, but I’m still waiting to find out exactly when I’ll be in Vegas and if the schedule will allow for any free time.
Here’s the run-down of the trip I was just on.
Good things about my business trip
- The day went so well. The local Training Consultant picked me up at the airport and did all the driving, since there was quite a bit of it. We had a great dinner at a Thai restaurant on Sunday. The students on Monday seemed to enjoy the class, which went very smoothly. The Training Consultant talked quite a bit during our rides which did wear me out a bit, but she was so nice.
- When my return flight was delayed, I noticed a spa right by the gate! I had a wonderful massage and pedicure. YES!! This was the best part of the trip.
- The hotel was nice, quiet and the airport had two restaurants I like (Jason’s Deli and Brueggers). I wish I could’ve eaten every meal there.
- Has nothing to do with the trip, but during it I got a very nice review of one of my fanfics. I love stuff like that, even though I haven't written anything for a while.
Bad things
- Breakfast at the Holiday Inn was so disgusting. Breakfast should be a hard meal to totally mess up. I once read a book by a woman who was incarcerated and she said that often breakfast was the only edible meal of the day. So why can’t Holiday Inn at least try?? The incredibly over-salted potatoes, the runny tasteless eggs, and the brown bananas left me over-indulging on the pizza that was brought into the training class for lunch. As always, I find it so hard to eat decent meals on the road. Years of business travel and I still haven’t found a way to improve my odds of having good food on the road.
