I knew I was sold the moment Natasha revealed that Clint was sent to assassinate her and changed his mind (I NEED THIS IN A MOVIE NOW). They reminded me a bit of Mal and Zoe, but with UST. The way I see it, they have a very close, very bloody history and don't relate much to other people, so they are each other's, well, everything, though they might start to get closer to the other Avengers (Clint/Natasha/Steve OT3...). It's very much them against the world. Also, Jeremy Renner (who plays Clint) said they have their own secret non-verbal communication because they know each other so well, so that's totally canon now. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
In my headcanon they haven't actually had sex at the point the movie is set (fanon has varying opinions on that), but there's plenty of UST. I actually think if they were to have a romantic relationship it would be pretty unhealthy, since they already cut themselves off from others and they're both very broken people.
Again, fandom kink. ;)

I love Mark Ruffalo though. Never thought of Bruce Banner like this but he was a great surprise.
Scarlett rocked. RDJ cocky and funny as always. Loki was...well, he was better in Thor but he's still a great character. :D

But yeah, Avengers was good. Not just action, I love the scenes with quiet talk and drama. I know Joss is interested in more than just special effects, which is good.
