The latest issue of Premiere magazine has X-men III on the cover! Looks like they have two different covers, one with Storm, Wolverine, and Angel. I bought that one, though I liked the Jean Grey cover too.
I am getting excited about X-men III. I have high hopes for it, though the second movie will be a tough act to follow and they have a different director now. I want to re-watch the first 2 movies before I see the third, though I have not had the time.
And I am so bummed that Gambit won't be in it. He's one of my favorites and I'm forever a Rogue/Remy shipper. At least Storm and Wolvie look wonderful even though they undoubtably won't be together in this film either. It looks like each movie has even more characters than the previous one, which certainly must make it hard to give anyone any meaninful screentime.
I guess what I mean to say is despite everything the X-men movies have done wrong -- making Rogue too mild, no Gambit, not enough Storm screentime and getting Halle Berry to play her in the first place, making Scott and Jean too cold -- I still adore it, am still a fan, and can hardly wait for the third movie!

Date: 2006-05-07 02:56 am (UTC)So, what do you think'll be next for X-men? Given that this may be the last film and both animated shows are off the air now, do you think it'll just be comics from now on or you think they'll find another form to incarnate X-men?

Date: 2006-05-08 06:40 pm (UTC)::raises hand:: Me, too! It's not fair that the only mention of Gambit was in the computer that Mystique was hacking in X2-- he was in the mutant database. (Which, btw, I found out because I did a frame-by-frame after seeing his name flash by for like, half a second...)

Date: 2006-05-16 01:50 pm (UTC)Well, you know my views on the films already - so I' not going to rehash my epic long rants on the characterisation failures in the previous films.I am worried about this one 2. From the previews its seems they've given in even more to Wolvie fever and pressure from Berry to give her more screen time (and given both storm and her performance in the previous movies, that doesn't strike me as a good thing). Heard rumours they going to kill scott. Gah - open the way for a Jean/Wolvie romance. No! I mean - kill scott by all means - I'll lend you some weapons ;) but don't do the Jean/wolvie thing again. then again they do sem to be pulling out the old hit storylines and remodelling them for the films.
Seems like Rogue has a very small part this time :( :( :( Ok - thats means less time for me to find fault hense less for me to have tantrums about so in that way its good. But being my favourtie character.. Well, honestly I'm not that interested in seening a movie devoted to Wolvie and Jean. But I will because its X-men (and I accept it as an AU, not as X-men canon). :) And I know I'm in the minority on my ainty "lets slopper over Wolvie sentiment. (And I do like Wolvie, just not the Gary-sue hardon Marvel writers have for him.)
And no Gambit - needless to say that disappoints me. Was hoping that if he made it to the film (and he was played by someone appropriately dishy), we might have had some hope in saving him from his current comic fate. :( :(
Anyway - I'll be sure to give you a full rant once I've seen it :D
I've gotta go to a meeting. Been back in SA 2days and have such major jet lag today. Doubt I'm staying awake for it :)

Date: 2006-05-17 12:26 am (UTC)Thoughts of them going in a Wolvie/Jean direction - ick. Ick ick ick. I can't believe that when I first got into X-men (the movie), I was a Wolvie-Jean shipper. Maybe they are trying to stir some excitement and appease some fans.
I agree with you that we just gotta view this as am AU and not canon. Heck, I prefer to view XTAS as the canon though I understand comic fans would kill me. XTAS treated Rogue/Remy so well, overall.
What is happening with our Cajun in the comics? (if i dare ask...)

Date: 2006-05-18 09:41 am (UTC)THen on my flight from minneapolis to LA - got horrendous turbulance going in Dallas/Fort Worth (which was having thunderstorms). And then when we were preparing to take off from Dallas to LA, there were lightening strikes on the runway, so we couldn't take off.
And on my trip back, got detained in Dakar again (this time no security checks tho), so was late, again. So when got to SA it was again a run for connecting flights (and after 2 days of travelling (left LA on Friday and only arrived home Sunday night) I was pretty ratty). Thankfully, and airport official offered to escort me and another girl through the airrport so got through customs, checkin and security just in time to catch final boarding (when he promptly asked for payment fo his services - yes, officials openly asking for kickbacks - ah, finally felt like I was at home in good old africa))
Moral of the story - NEVER get on a plane with me :D
BTW - the flight from Washington to SA is only 18hrs - so not that horrendous if you don't have layovers. So if you ever want to visit...
Back to X-men: You started off as W/J shipper? Glad you came to your senses and realised the correctness of RoLo. :)
hehe - I think I even prefer XTAS these days - I mean the comics have jst gotten ridiculous of late. I don't know why I keep buying...
Thing is I have them, but I'm not motivated to read them, so they just lie in my closet. Haven't read one this year! So what I know about Remy is just hearsay at thuis point - I can't bring myself to read it and get upset. Firstly: R&R broke up. Rogue got her powers back and so the whole angst thing started up again. Apparently Mystique found a mutant who Rogue was able to touch and manipulated him into joining the X-Men and becoming friends with Rogue. At the same time she pretended to be Rogue and got to work on Remy's insecurities. This lead to a break up, and then finally to Remy leaving the X-Men, joining Apocolyse, being drugged and turned into a member of the latest incarnation of the 4 horsemen (Death btw) and killing a bunch of people. Thats the last spolier I read - so I don't know if anythings happened since, or how accurate it is (I really should try catch up. But I'm afraid I'll start frothing at the mouth and require anger management therapy if I do ;) ).
Anyway - it does not sound good. :( :(

Date: 2006-05-19 12:16 am (UTC)I vote for that. Shame on those bastards at Marvel!! Could they have been *any* meaner to Rogue and Remy?? Damn!
I prefer to remember them the way they were in XTAS, and leave it at that.
Sorry to hear how bad your trip was. What a nightmare! Did you get to see any of the US though or was it mostly work?
Yes, fortunately my Jean/Wolvie phase was a brief one and resulted in only one brief smutfic.

Date: 2006-05-19 10:58 am (UTC)The trip itself was good - both from a work side and an enjoyment side. Didn't get to see a lot of minneapolis (OMG was it cold. Everyone was running around in shortsleeves and comment on how beautiful the weather was. And here are 4 south African bundled up in coats and wondering why they left there gloves at home. Apparently Minisota spring is the same temp as our late autumn - early winter). Just some restaurants and the Mall of America. But that was 8-5 meeting for most of the week.
We got to LA on saturday and had a lot more time for exploring there (temperature much more inline with SA, just a little cooler). Did the tourist thing on Sunday - going from venice beach up the pasific high way then cutting across to hollywood, beverly hills etc. Our meetings during the week were oddly spaced out, so often had the time between appointments just to go for a walk and see what we could find . So saw a decent amount of LA.
And then I saw a lot of airports :D But at least I got to stop off for at least an our in all 4 quadrants of the US. :)
We might be going back again early next year, so we might get to go see a few other places then. By then the plane hopefully will not be routed through politically unstable african countries - and so maybe the flights are a little better. :D

Pity the poor person going with me - they missed out on the joy of watching the previous 2 movies with me and thus have no idea what they in for. >:D

Date: 2006-05-24 09:35 am (UTC)hehe - although with 1 day to go, I seem to have found the fangirl in me again. I'm way too giddy for my own good. :)
Can't wait to see their take on Dark Phoenix, Grammer's Beast, Scott potentially dying (sorry, couldn't resist :P). Still hoping against all hope that a Remy cameo slips in although I know its 99.9999999999999% certainty that there is not even a name mention like last time.
Anyway - let me know when you've seen it :)
