Things I can be upset about in the X-men movies:

1. The best couple (Rogue and Gambit) are never even in the same movie

2. The best bromance (Iceman and Beast) never exchange a sentence of dialog with each other

3. One of the best female heroes ever (Storm) gets plenty of screen time but absolutely no development

4. The female character who has gotten the most screen time (Mystique) is one of the last I’d have chosen. (Nothing against Mystique or Jennifer Lawrence, but why so much focus on her and not an actual X-woman?)

I can come up with a hundred others, but these are the ones that come to mind first. I debated doing an addendum to the first one, about how they messed up Rogue’s personality.

Yet despite all this, I love the X-men movies. I love them. I could make a list of what I love about the X-men movies and it’d be twice as long as the above.

And if they do somehow get Rogue into the upcoming Gambit movie, I will absolutely forgive all of the above!

Oh! I got another one: Wolverine and his man-pain MUST be a central feature of every single movie. Regardless of the fact that there are SO MANY OTHER CHARACTERS. I think this is why I gave First Class the benefit of the doubt, and why it was so popular despite having some problems--no Wolverine. Nothing against the guy, but must he be the main character every goddamn time? I'm ready to focus on someone else.

As for Mystique/Jennifer Lawrence--the answer is in the question. It's Jennifer Lawrence. She's probably the biggest star after Hugh Jackman at this point.

Keep in mind I say this not having seen Apocalypse yet--I'm going to have to wait for DVD on that one. Between Star Wars, The Avengers, and various horror movies, I've been spending way too much at the cinema lately. I need to pace myself.

Amen a hundred times on Wolvie! I like him.Hugh Jackman does a great job playing him. But enough already; we have 100 other X-men we can focus on!

Let me know what you do think of it when you get to see it.

My favorite character has always been Xavier and I'm glad he's portrayed in the movies by such great actors. I'd love to see Gambit or *properly* characterized Bishop back in the movies, and I hope the future Deadpool movies will properly develop the character of Cable - because in my opinion the whole XMU story leads to this comic book storyline => https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Cutioner's_Song (one of the greatest, IMO).
I also can't wait to see Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey as grown-ups because that's how I remember them from the comics and seeing them constantly as those lost and confused teenagers is not really my thing.

Totally agree on Xavier!

I guess we'll just have to wait and see about the rest. I think the actors playing the new Jean and Storms will be great. The young Cyclops I'm less optimistic about, but of course a lot is in the hands of the writers too.
