Two things

Okay, I think I figured out what to get Doris for our anniversary next month. Two things gave me the idea. One, she was chatting with my massage therapist Beata about gifts and she said how much she likes "food!" as gifts. Second, her employees got her for her birthday a chocolate cake with whipped cream and strawberries - and she's obsessed with it. I've never seen her eat....so much sweets. (Normally she makes a face and says she hates dessert and it's too sweet etc etc). I am going to try to get a local, vegan-friendly bakery to recreate the cake. If they can't then I'll just order from the same place her employees got it from, though I really have mixed feelings about spending money that supports animal agriculture. 

I ordered another Cameo from Jake Stormoen, who played Garrett Spears in The Outpost. His Cameos are amazing. I get that the dude's an actor and thus he knows how to turn up the charm, but he is so warm and friendly and appreciative that I am a repeat customer. He even sent me a nice message on IG. Yes, I am pretty taken with him. (If Sachin were on Cameo, rest assured I'd order one a week....)

And oooh wait - a 3rd thing! There's someone I know online who, for the past 2 years or so, I've written fanfic with and fangirled alongside. For X-mas I ordered her a Cameo from one of her favorite Spartacus actors. I hope she likes it.

I am SHOCKED that Doris said she likes food as gifts!!! I was a little surprised that she liked that cake, but I think whipped cream is less sweet, chocolate cake is often less sweet, and I remember her liking that cake I got for her and Rollin from Busy Bee that one time that was a strawberry banana cake. I would be VERY surprised if a vegan bakery couldn't recreate it. Well, I guess the whipped cream might be a problem. But really, I do think they can recreate it.

Really cool about the Cameos! I follow mark evan jackson on instagram and he's been advertising that he's doing cameos to raise money for his charity, I didn't realize some folks were doing it for charity too. I was also imagining how much money you could raise with it if you were at least semi-popular!

I'm totally imagining you ordering so many cameos from Sachin he'd be like 'Hi Marianne, so here's what I've been up to this week...'

WHen is your fanfic friend going to get the cameo? I really think it's such a cool idea.

I was shocked too. But thanks for the reminder on the strawberry banana...I forgot about that! I did find a place that will do the cake. Except they don't carry vegan whipped cream, but my local grocery store has it, so I told them to do the rest and I'll buy the whipped cream and put it on.

And yes - I saw Mark on there!! I love when people donate some or all proceeds for charity. I've booked some with actors from The 100 when they do it for charity.

I'm going to give my friend the link on X-mas Eve. It's all done now but I feel it's too early, but the link stays active so I can wait closer to the holiday to give it to her.
