Random gratitude

- Game night is tomorrow!

- Doris is off tomorrow too. I think I may be able to get her to go to lunch with me at Cien 100% Naturalissimo, this place that I love but never get takeout from because the best thing about them is their drinks. (Horchata. Boba tea. And dozens of others, all vegan). But...Doris does like to cook before game night, so it's possible she's not actually gonna want to go. And I'm not going to sit there by myself drinking 2 drinks.

- Sunday my sister and her husband were in town. Hadn't seen them in person since before the pandemic. We had a really nice time. Went to Althea, we all got along well. 

- I had an amazing writing spree. From Thursday to Monday, I wrote a 16K fic. And I love it. Love the fic so much. The first 2 chapters are posted and I have one very enthusiastic reader/reviewer. 

- A friend went through a tough work situation, but it's looking like it's resulting in a job now with better pay and less driving. 

- I went into the office 1 day this week. First time since December. I even took the el train, which I never do anymore. It all went fine. It's nice to go in sometimes. But not too often.

- Just taking a moment to be grateful for usually working from home and the ability to run errands on my lunch break. I got so much done. (Picked up a PRIDE pin to wear to - ick - Florida. Library, returned an item at Lively Athletics, went to Trends to have them set up my rewards app, then grocery store to get a few things Doris wanted for game night)

Yay for game night--and double-yay for your writing spree!! I recently got back into a fic I abandoned 3 years ago, but having that energy back is *nice*. I missed this world, y'know? Back to obsessively checking view counts and kudos! <3

Be safe traveling. Florida's not the only one with a crappy anti-LGBTQAI+ bill on the books right now. :/

Yes - that energy is awesome! The desire to write and the thrill of checking kudos and hits. (Even though they are never as high as I want).

Yeah, it sucks how so many states are pursuing that anti-LGBTQAI crap. So horrible!!

I've gotten past 100 on this latest one--woohoo! Just crossing my fingers I can keep up the pace.

I know. It sucks. My state has done okay so far, but our new governor is an asshole. I have a feeling we're next.

Wow, a 16K fic? How are you doing that? I barely manage to write 2K in that amount of time.

I don't think I could work from home, tbh.

With the writing, I think it's just that once I get the bug, I've got it. Like the idea popped into my head to have Pietros tell his story, and from there, the fic just flew out of me. But hey, we all go at our own paces.

Working from home is interesting. I love it, but I've always been the type of person to make 'to do' lists and that sort of thing. What do you do for a living, if you don't mind my asking?

Yeah, even if I have an idea I'm excited about, it takes me a long time to actually choose the right words to make the fic good, so that I'm satisfied with it. I have a wip that I'm working on for the last year, and it's barely 7k, because I keep second-guessing myself and editing it all the time...

I don't mind; I work for a company selling elevators and escalators. I prefer to keep work and home separate and don't bring work home. I know I wouldn't be able to focus on work if I were working from home, I'd get too distracted.
