Gratitude again
Mar. 20th, 2022 07:41 pmJust some random ones since I haven't done this for a while.
- Doris is taking a few days off in July. (Basically because her staff wants some time off). We booked a trip to Lake Geneva, WI. We went there like 18 years ago. It's nothing fancy but there should be plenty of hiking - heck, maybe we canoe or do a boat tour. It has a cute downtown, and the Airbnb we booked is adorable. Just a 3 night trip which, sadly, constitutes a *long* vacation by our paltry standards!! But we really need some sort of getaway.
- My favorite actor from Spartacus, Antonio Te Maioha, landed a very good gig! He was in 2 episodes that aired this week of a New Zealand soap opera, Shortland Street. Why do I think this is a "very good" gig? (I mean come on, it's a *soap opera*). Well, he played a character who was very well spoken-of by the others and he even got a love interest. He almost never gets a love interest and often plays "bad guy of the week" and on top of that he often ends up dead. And as always, if you're an actor and someone is paying you to act, it's all good. Plus it's his most recent gig since Cowboy Bebop. (Where he played...bad guy of the week who gets killed). Funny note - Shortland Street has been on since 1993 and has over 7,000 episodes. Antonio was also in 3 episodes back in 2007 - playing a totally different character! I wonder if anyone other than his mother and I know that.
- Got some nice Cameos from Sachin. He thanked me for a prompt and said it was a good one
- Been volunteering with Postcards to Swing States. Did it last week and will do again this week
- Helping my housekeeper find a low cost way to get her cats neutered.

Date: 2022-03-22 05:54 pm (UTC)Funny that your fave actor was in the show before as a totally different character! Though I suppose after 7000(!!!) episodes, he's probably not the first one! I don't know if New Zealand is like England when it comes to actors, but I feel like the more british shows/movies I watch, the more actors I see over and over again.
Yay for nice Cameos! I assume he hasn't planned an end date to his Cameo time? I'm so curious about cameos. Do people usually want the actor to talk about themselves? Do they want messages from the actor's well-known characters? Do they share any of their 'examples' on the site? I wonder if they get tired of having to 'be' characters they were years ago.
Do you do your volunteer stuff from home?
COngrats on helping your housekeeper! And yay for more neutered cats, especially if they're outdoor cats!

Date: 2022-03-23 09:21 pm (UTC)So far Sachin hasn't said he's going to end Cameo. As for what you request, it's pretty much up to you - just keep in mind that Cameo limits the # of characters you type into your request. Generally most actors aren't asked to or just won't do the Cameo "as" a character. They seem to do them as themselves. And yes, just go to Cameo and each actor has samples up on their site.
Postcards to Swing States is actually in....DG! Near where Marg used to live.

Date: 2022-03-24 02:33 am (UTC)I was thinking, I wonder if actors would even be "allowed" to do the cameo as their character. Like, does the tv show/studio/whatever 'own' the character and you would get in trouble for even pretending?
Now that I've written that I went and watched a couple and James Marsters is on there and did a couple "as" Spike from Buffy (as in, referred to himself as Spike), and Marc Evan Jackson did a couple sort of as some of his characters... like, he didn't refer to himself by name, but he did act as some of the characters, he did some "warm ups" where he said some phrases from the show. Interesting! I have to admit, I looked through the actors and many of them I had NO IDEA who they were. Then again, if your claim to fame is Tik Tok, I'm probably not going to know who you are!
omg I just watched Sachin's samples and I love that yours are on there!!
How funny! Whenever I drive down that road I find myself looking for her street name.

Date: 2022-03-24 03:12 pm (UTC)It cracks me up that mine are on there for Sachin. When you make the Cameo request, you do have the option to hide it from the actor's profile. Beyond that, I have no idea who/how decides which ones show there.
