- Doris's family was in town last weekend and it was nice. And I asked Mom where she wanted to go for mother's day and she picked one of my favorite restaurants. YES!! We're going there on Sunday. (We rarely go out on Mother's Day itself)

- Two days ago I had to go into the office. I did my hair, did my makeup, put on a cute dress that I've hardly worn in 2 years, and....I thought I looked almost good?

- It's so hot here. Which sucks. But I bought mango pop sickles and they are awesome. And I do see a lot of gorgeous flowers on my walks.

- Been sleeping like a baby. YES!

- Season 2 of The Wilds is pretty good so far. And Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is also off to a great start

- Finished reading a wonderful novel which will be on my next book report. It is "The Other Bennet Sister"

- My friend Pam texted yesterday. She's coming into town to see her son perform, the weekend before PRIDE weekend. So glad to see her again and see Justin perform! We don't fully know what the plan is, but it will happen. (And I rarely do stuff for PRIDE, but I think it'll actually be nice to be 'forced' to do something this time)

- A few years ago I got one of those things in the mail asking if I wanted to join a class action lawsuit. I did. Got a check yesterday for $397. Decided to donate it to Fair Fight.

- I've been feeling lately that Doris is full-on in "never want to do anything or go anywhere" mode. But we'd decided to both take Wednesday afternoon off, next week. I suggested we go to a restaurant, one that is far away but that I'd thought was one of her favorites. She said no, she actually doesn't like it and their food is too salty. None of my other suggestions were hitting either. I was kinda sad and frustrated. But then she came back the next day and suggested we eat at another restaurant and turn it into a picnic at a nearby park. She even researched the park to see if they had benches and stuff. I was so glad she did this. Fingers crossed for good weather!

Glad you had a good belated Mother's Day!

The weather has been predictably unpredictable around here. It's gone from hot-ish, to relentlessly windy, to rain, to cold, to hot again, in the past few weeks, and it's bizarre.

I've got SO many things going on for Pride this year. Mainly stuff going on with the Library, which I'm excited about! We scheduled an author visit with Alex Gino, so I'm really looking forward to meeting them and talking about Writing While Nonbinary. <3 There's other stuff happening, but that's the big highlight for me.

Oh, by the way: I found out Heartstopper is based on a comic book series, and now it's starting to sound familiar! I've added it to the queue, and I'll probably join the rest of you gushing about it eventually.

Glad you worked out a good spot for your picnic date! *sending good weather vibes*

Always!! I get barometric headaches all the time. I can literally tell when a storm is coming based on how much it hurts. Worst superpower EVER.

Yeah!! I finally read their book this week so I could prepare. I don't write children's books, but I figure there's some universality to the process anyway.

That can be hard, when you're the one who wants to Do The Things and your partner just isn't interested. I mean, I've heard it's hard, not that I've ever had a partner to have that tension with, but still.

Do you think it's possible Doris might be a little depressed? Or do you think she's just not feeling up to doing stuff? I am feeling a little more like go places and do stuff but it's definitely been a long shift for me. Right now I've also been haaaaating the hot weather, plus my allergies have been super bad (terrible sinus headaches like every day), which makes it even more of a struggle to leave the house than normal.

What was the occasion to go into the office? I went in this week as well, but it was for art club! And I worked from home til lunch and then went in :)

Woo, what was the class action lawsuit for (do you even remember? Wait, I'm sure they must have told you with the check)? How nice to get a chunk of unexpected money!

Hope you have a wonderful visit with Pam, and a fun belated mother's day meal with your mom tomorrow!

I totally get the nesting instinct. It's hard to pull out of it, especially with covid.

I have been loooooving the weather for the last week or so, nice and cool and relaxing. Windows open. Still allergy season but at least I'm not roasting. I heard it's supposed to be hot tomorrow and hot and stormy on Friday and then back to cooler weather. I'll take the cooler weather for as long as I can get it!

I agree, when I do go in I like it to be for some like, actual reason. Not just some vague thing that could definitely have been done remotely.

I am too! We have not been successful in recruiting new members for a while, but we have a solid 3 of us who are pretty much always there. Now that more people are there in-person I'm thinking about advertising with fliers again like we used to.
