Some gratitude stuff
May. 21st, 2022 07:25 pm- Volunteered at Postcards to Swing States today. They are desperate for volunteers to come before Memorial Day, so I posted on Oak Park Progressives and lots of people said they would sign up.
- And speaking of Memorial Day Weekend. Doris will have to spend Sunday doing some work stuff for her mom, but we'll get Saturday and Monday together. Saturday is game night. Weather permitting, we might hit a nearby forest preserve or have that picnic on Sat or Mon.
- Summer fruit. Is awesome. During the winter, I don't eat many different types of fruit, usually sticking to apples and oranges. I am so glad to get nectarines and apricots now.
- Last weekend, went to a march in support of Roe v Wade. Ran into neighbors Vanessa and Bryan there, and on the train home I ran into someone named Diana who is basically a FB friend (was nice to see her in real life and to actually talk)
- Also last weekend, took the parents out for brunch. And I got a free raincoat in the deal, and it's a good one. (The temperature had dropped by the time I walked the parents home, and I wasn't up for taking public transportation without a coat. Mom had one that she doesn't fit in anymore, so she gave it to me. I like it)
- As I mentioned in my last book report, I really enjoyed Wil Wheaton's Still Just a Geek
- And...some good stuff on my favorite actors from The 100! Jarod was in a short film that came out during a sci fi film festival last weekend. I bought a pass so I could watch it. It didn't work at first which was making me not very happy. But then it worked, and I was able to see it! And Sachin posted on IG something about the table read for his new short film. I followed the producer of his short and they said they are filming over 2 weekends in June. So it looks like it's happening - woo! I hope so much that they, and my favorites from Spartacus, will get some more good gigs.

I have a friend at work who has been on the hunt for a good raincoat for years now, she has an old one that she loves and it's slowly falling apart but she said all of the modern ones are not the type/style she likes. So finding one you like is nice!
Great news about the gigs for Jarod and Sachin! I know I've said it before, but, man, you have to have great fortitude to stick it out in the acting business!

Date: 2022-05-24 02:38 pm (UTC)Yeah, the acting business seems so rough, plus I imagine it doesn't pay well, being on a short film. On the other hand, I guess it doesn't take up too much time either - like with Sachin's being filmed over 2 weekends in June. Of course that doesn't count whatever prep time you need, like to learn your lines.
