- Volunteered at Postcards to Swing States today. They are desperate for volunteers to come before Memorial Day, so I posted on Oak Park Progressives and lots of people said they would sign up.

- And speaking of Memorial Day Weekend. Doris will have to spend Sunday doing some work stuff for her mom, but we'll get Saturday and Monday together. Saturday is game night. Weather permitting, we might hit a nearby forest preserve or have that picnic on Sat or Mon.

- Summer fruit. Is awesome. During the winter, I don't eat many different types of fruit, usually sticking to apples and oranges. I am so glad to get nectarines and apricots now.

- Last weekend, went to a march in support of Roe v Wade. Ran into neighbors Vanessa and Bryan there, and on the train home I ran into someone named Diana who is basically a FB friend (was nice to see her in real life and to actually talk)

- Also last weekend, took the parents out for brunch. And I got a free raincoat in the deal, and it's a good one. (The temperature had dropped by the time I walked the parents home, and I wasn't up for taking public transportation without a coat. Mom had one that she doesn't fit in anymore, so she gave it to me. I like it)

- As I mentioned in my last book report, I really enjoyed Wil Wheaton's Still Just a Geek

- And...some good stuff on my favorite actors from The 100! Jarod was in a short film that came out during a sci fi film festival last weekend. I bought a pass so I could watch it. It didn't work at first which was making me not very happy. But then it worked, and I was able to see it! And Sachin posted on IG something about the table read for his new short film. I followed the producer of his short and they said they are filming over 2 weekends in June. So it looks like it's happening - woo! I hope so much that they, and my favorites from Spartacus, will get some more good gigs.

Oh my gosh I didnt realize this was memorial day weekend already! Rollin unfortunately has to work on Monday. Hopefully the weather is cooperative and you get to have your picnic!

Nice that you got to have brunch and got a free raincoat! Ha! I have a friend at work who has been on the hunt for a good raincoat for years now, she has an old one that she loves and it's slowly falling apart but she said all of the modern ones are not the type/style she likes. So finding one you like is nice!

Great news about the gigs for Jarod and Sachin! I know I've said it before, but, man, you have to have great fortitude to stick it out in the acting business!

yep, he says there's only two days a year they're closed, I'm assuming xmas and maybe thanksgiving? But since he starts so early he's home by 3.

I feel like there's a minimum payment that people get if they have certain kinds of roles, but I'm sure it's not a ton of money. I guess if you're filming over two weekends, at least you can keep working your day job if you have one?

I think they're currently (like most places) a little short staffed so maybe it'll be different when they're fully staffed. They each have to work one saturday a month, for example, but they can either take a different day off or work fewer hours on their usual days. When we get married he won't be getting paid most of that time because he won't have enough PTO time banked by then.
