- Saturday Doris got home early enough for us to watch several episodes of Manifest. Liking the new season so far. 

- Sunday I canvassed for Lauren Underwood again. Had great weather too. At one point though....I needed something sweet and refreshing. Drove to Starbucks figuring I'd get an iced tea. Next to it is Coldstone Creamery and they have a sign in their window saying they have almond milk shakes. Ahhhh!! It hit the spot. I am so thrilled that more mainstream places have vegan stuff.

- I should also add that during all the times I canvassed for Underwood, I didn't have 1 bad experience

- Today I met up with a group at the local Dems and we gave donuts to poll workers. We got into teams of 2 and each team had like 7 polling locations to hit. The donuts were very appreciated.

- No side effects from my first dose of the shingles vax!

- Fic writing is going well; I have an outline of what I will write for my fandom friend Mia for Christmas

- And Sachin updates! I get a notification from IMDb that he's going to be in Blockbuster. I was thrilled because I'd planned to watch it anyway! On the downside, it's just a 'walk on' role - he gets  3 lines in 1 ep and that's it. But hey, it was a big show. I also finally got to see his episode of Family Law that he filmed back in late 2020. He mentioned in a recent Cameo to me that he's been doing "lots of bad guys lately". There are still 2 things that he filmed that he mentioned to me on Cameo but haven't popped up on his IMDb yet. (One is an episode of Creepshow and one is the thing he grew the goatee for. Perhaps those are both the bad guy roles? Or does he have more? Hmmm)

There are so many vegan options at ice cream places now. I'm not vegan myself, but I have several friends who are, so I keep clocking them when I see them. I didn't realize Cold Stone was doing that too! That's nice, because they have a much bigger chain than the local ones we have around here.

Yay for not having a bad experience canvassing! It's a bit wild out there, so I'm glad you haven't run into any problems.

Hm, I have Creepshow on Shudder. Tell me this guy's name again? I have that on my list anyway, so I could watch it and let you know who he plays.

Right, I am so glad that canvassing has been fine. And the districts I've canvassed in are always 'swing' districts. At least if people disagree they have been polite. I will do it again since two local Dems (Sean Casten and Lauren Underwood) are sure to once again face tough fights 2 years from now.

The actor is Sachin Sahel. So as for Creepshow, it's not even showing in his IMDb page yet. He told me back in June that he was filming an episode (or maybe more than 1 ep?) of it then. I would imagine if it was filmed this summer, the earliest it's coming out is next year. Thank you for offering though!

I feel like there are certain locations where pretty much everyone is going to be polite no matter what, which helps.

We've got our results back, and they're . . . not good. Ugh. So much of this comes down to who has the most money for campaigning, and gerrymandering. our governor sucks and I hate it here. BUT it seems like much of the rest of the country did okay, so no reason to lose hope!

Ah, gotcha. I will still keep an eye out though!

I'm sorry that locally things weren't good. But overall this election went way, way better than I'd dreamed. Some numbers for comparison that I saw. Obama lost 60 House seats in his first midterm, and Trump lost 40 in his one midterm. Looks like tonight's Dem House losses will be in single-digits....that plus the fact that there's inflation means it's been a pretty good night!

The one I was most worried about was the school board since they caused so many problems for local libraries this year. Now we have a guy who will 100% get onboard with book banning and throwing transgender school students under the bus. I found a "parental rights" website with a list of all the candidates in various districts they wanted people to vote for, and he was on it. And that's part of the problem: these assholes are ORGANIZED. Most people don't want to take the time to do their own research, so they get on newsletters for organizations like that, or they just go with whoever has the most signs.

Thank you for being engaged with this. "Big" elections like the US Senate get all the attention but local ones are very important.
