- The book "Factfulness" by Hans Rosling is helping me look at the world in a new way. There is a lot of well-grounded optimism in it
- SCOTUS upheld Prop 12, which shocks me. (It's a California law that provides tiny tiny amounts of protection to farmed animals)
- Last weekend was awesome, which included such events as Scrabble with Ann, Doris making me a delicious smoothie when I asked, dinner with Chris, and Doris being unexpectedly off on Saturday so we explored downtown OP and tried a new coffeeshop. She said she really enjoyed going somewhere new
Fandom stuff! A lot of it!
- Alessandro is in 1 episode of Lucky Hank. It's a pretty good scene and he had a lot of lines.
- Still loving Shadow and Bone. Just posted my 5th S&B fanfic and it already has more kudos than a ton of stuff I wrote for The 100 and Spartacus. Also, tomorrow those of us on the Discord are starting a "comment crawl". We've had lots of good discussion there about lack of comments; I am glad that I'm not alone. One of my S&B fics is almost at 100 kudos (a previous S&B fic of mine surpassed that)
- Sachin is in an upcoming short film called French Girls. He told me it's a small part but he also said in his latest Cameo that he's done a ton of auditions and callbacks! I hope they lead to something. He seemed very, very optimistic in his Cameo.
- I enjoyed Queen Charlotte. It's good. I adored the gay couple in it. But....well I will say no more in case someone reading this plans to watch it

Really sweet that your discord group is doing a comment crawl. I imagine it's a huge frustration for everyone who writes fanfic to put it out to the world and feel like you just tossed your hard work into the void. I mean, I guess the people who are writing the super popular mashups aren't worried about it, but still.
hopefully a great new role for Sachin soon, especially since he canceled that trip to Germany!

Yeah, I just don't know what to do - mentally - with fic commenting. I always want more. Even when I get them, I just want more. My latest Shadow and Bone fic has comments from 6 different people, and 53 kudos. That's respectable. That's fine. But sometimes I glance at the fics with 800 kudos and I never know why I can't get up there. A friend said she thinks it's all "luck and timing". Other theories are that fans are well-fed with content and thus don't need to engage with content-creators. Or that fics are like the publishing industry today - most readers read a few best sellers and everything else is left in the dust. And there's the fact that I tend to write a lot of canon-verse fics with plots while a lot of readers want AU coffeeshop meet-cutes.
I just wish I could get my brain to be fully satisfied with like 3 comments per fic, you know?
